Kitty-Cats

Cats are wonderful creatures, they make us laugh, they make us frown but generally bring us joy. In Ancient Egypt, cats were seen as almost magical and worshipped. Cats were thought to bring good luck to households and were included in many carved plaques and papyrus. I have always had a cat, and apart from my first cat Sabre, they have all been black. For me, black cats have meant good luck. My daughters Brittany and Charlotte also have cats, three are black. In this blog, I will use my daughters cats to illustrate the theme of the blog. I would have included my black cat Ebony but she passed away a few months ago, bitten by snake in the back garden as she did her morning ablutions (dreadful way to go). So let me introduce you to the four gorgeous kitties who will star in this blog:

Aether

Named because she’s black, looks like the void. The classic elements include aether as a 5th element, which is what space is made of. In classical chemistry and astronomy it was thought that our living world was surrounded by aether (space). Aether is a bit shy and likes to blend into the darkness when strangers are around.

Atlassa

Continuing the theme of astronomy, Atlassa is the feminized form of Atlas. Atlas was a titan in Greek Mythology who held up the heavens and the sky. This little kitty is curious and loves a good tickle.

Juni

Juni is Scandinavian for the month of June and also comes from Juno, the wife of the Roman king of the gods Jupiter. So Juni is the Queen of the Gods and with her commanding blue eyes she definitely seeks to be served by her human mistress.

Minty

Minty comes from the Greek Aminta which means defender and vindicator. It also comes from the Australian lolly minties which is refreshing and unique. Minty likes to defend her territory and has an adventurous personality.
